Beauty
Expectations,
a bright class, bubbling, alive,
intuitive intelligence, energies emerging,
ready to go and let go.
Teaching Hamlet,
the cultural background,
Shakespearean theatre,
the essential questions
and enduring fascination.
Working the plot,
politics and scheming,
the murder mystery,
friends and females, the blood of bone,
alienation, being alone.
Playing with the personality,
being with Hamlet,
in his striving and struggling
with trust and truth,
the eternal questions of eternal youth.
Seeing students,
minds engaging, eyes warming,
the emotional and the intellectual,
the body and the mind
thinking and feeling, one of a kind.
Knowing,
this is me, complete and whole,
this is all me, completely soul.
Other times feeling and being true,
making love, conceiving you,
digging dirt and clearing drains,
activities all, not using brains,
now this is becoming
rather strange,
but truth manifests in many ways,
in minds engaging, instincts releasing,
and bodies being bodies,
always unceasing,
and beauty,
what of beauty?
Beauty in being is beauty in seeing.
Lord Byron was deformed
with a club foot,
but the myth is enduring,
in Lord Byrons hypnotic eyes,
is the poet, alluring.
Beauty is an expression of what is,
defined against what is not,
in mind making images of energies light,
but universal truth is beyond all sight.
In the spiraling spirit of nuclear nebulae,
are the squashed guts of fallen fruit fly,
in all the ugliness and despair
is all the purity of purest air,
in all the emptiness of being there,
is all the fullness of being here,
beauty, beauty, beauty.
